After our best season yet, the future looks bright

Written by Tashkent Browncoats at 21:26 1/11-2021

I'm usually not one to write season recaps, but after having our best season to date both rank- and points-wise, and with exciting young talent knocking on the door, it felt fitting to give a little update on where Tashkent Browncoats stands.

Over the last two seasons, we've seen the retirement of the backbone of the first team that brought us glory, with Erazm Dębski and Axel Lundberg leaving us last season. When they were at their peak, our current captain Axel Lundberg was hired and trained, and over the seasons he has become ever more important , brining home among other things two trophies from Criterium la Grasse. I never expected Rafal to become a better rider than Erazm was, not even after he maxed, but he is on track to do so with still a handful of seasons in front of him. However, at 30, a decline in his performance is not something of a distant future anymore. However, I feel that more than ever, Tashkent Browncoats has a young gard eager to take over and rise to the occasion. So let's have a look at who will be the future of the Browncoats:

PolandRadosław Witczak - 25 years old (maxed)

Perhaps the least exciting member of our young guns, and also the oldest. I hoped that he would max after training his average flat road potential, so he could become a tour-version of Debski, but alas. With his stats, I feel like he just misses the edge to get results in the middle divisions, and with the competition he has in the team it is unlikely he will have many captaincy roles. Nevertheless, Radoslaw as a 217 climber is a rock solid rider to have in your climbing squad.

UzbekistanSpartak Klokov - 24 years old (maxed)

Spartak is the one from this list who has been a Browncoat the longest, as he joined at the very young age of 19. He is also the most exciting thing to come out of my talent feature in a while. Somewhat similarly to Radoslaw, I was a bit disappointed to not be able to make use of his (small) FR potential, and as such he is lacking a bit in sidestats. However, he has already gotten a couple of nice results, perhaps most notably a second place in division 3's VCK Classic, a race we will definitely target again in the future.

ItalyCesario Sabatino - 24 years old (maxed)

A 212 climber with 60 in FR and an average of nearly 55 - in other words, Cesario is our new tour captain. He already got his first tour captaincy in this season's RotM, but off days, both for him and his team mates, and an injured team mate made him miss out on a top 9 classification and a YC podium. However, he will use his maiden top form in coming Norway Tour, where winning the YC is the biggest goal we have set for now for next season. Cesario has also recently ridden his first race for the Italian NT, which is another sign he is on the good way (And a bit more of an achievement for him than for his Uzbek teammates - I suspect the manager of the Uzbek NT might be very involved with riders from my team :D)

DenmarkClemen Bruun - 24 years old (maxed)

Bruun was bought partially trained from Matrix Team. A very atypical rider, generally speaking but also with respect to the riders we usually have. I figured that with a high max he might have been an amazing tour rider, but just like Radoslaw, he came short just about 20 training points to be as such. Nevertheless, he is a very versatile team mate and gives me the opportunity to play around with the windbreaker role a bit, according to the example of established CL teams like [team]Lokomotiva Zvolen[/rider].

Uzbekistan Korney Bogomolov - 24 years old (UNMAXED)

  Potential:
  CL: Very good
  DH: Small
  HL: Average
  SP: None
  FR: Small
  CB: None
  TT: Small
  TQ: Average

I thank the recent hirelist changes for this guy. Often times with new Uzbek talents, they were picked up before I even saw the on the HL (looking at you, Nooky), but this guy spawned in a lower ranked bracket and was still there after 10 days. I was debating wether to pick him up or post him on the free hire list, but his ideal maxes in climbing in hills make me very happy to have chosen the former. As he is still unmaxed with average TQ potential and small FR, he might turn out to be the most exciting talent of them all.

TurkmenistanAntip Koshkov - 21 years old (UNMAXED)

  Potential:
  CL: Average
  DH: Good
  HL: Small
  SP: Very good
  FR: Average
  CB: None
  TT: None
  TQ: None

Antip has definitely one of the lesser fortunate distributions of a 210+ DH potential, and I doubted seriously wether to pick him up. I have been wanting to get back into downhilling for a while now, but a good DH potential is kind of unconvincing for a DH rider. I ultimately got convinced because the striking similarity of his name to Antip Kulakov, an Uzbek who had ridden for my team all his career and had retired only two days prior. That seemed like a sign. However, seeing as that Antip was an O.K. DH guy at best, it might have been more of a bad omen for this Antip. I guess only the maxing of his DH stat will tell wether it'd be worthwile.

Sooo this is another long ass PR, so I'm going to try to be brief in my conclusion. We have some very neat young riders, some of them unmaxed, while our main guy Figura is still very much in his prime. However, perhaps the three best riders from this group (Klokov, Sabatino and Bogomolov) have a very similar main stat distribution, all great climbers, great-good hillers but (fairly) poor downhill. I'll try to offset this by training Bogomolov in TQ to make him different from the other two, and also for my next talent(s) focus more on DH. Anyway, I'm looking forward to see what this group has in stock for me.

  Greetings,
  Mal

Thanks guys! Sabatino is maxed, the other maxed guys aren’t (and I don’t think they will be). Bogomolov might be, if he maxes high.

Very nice that they are still young.:)
  Good luck and have fun.

That´s quite a lineup, Mal, really. Congrats, and good luck, I hope my team can avoid racing against this. :) But one thing is missing in your PR: Are your guys TT centered?
P.S.: Thanks for the shout out. :)
